David’s professional mission in life is to help people realize their highest potential through education. To accomplish this mission, David founded Next Step Magazine in 1995. The company has grown to become a nationwide resource helping more than three million students in more than 20,500 high schools with college, career and life planning.
Next Step produces a variety of multi-platform products including print, online, newsletters, custom publishing, social media and more. Next Step’s most recent venture is BackToLearn.com, which helps adult learners find the best college programs for them.
Next Step is a leader in its category. It has grown to become a multimillion-dollar enterprise and winner of many prestigious awards and honors, including being named an Inc. 5000 growth company for three consecutive years; a Rochester, N.Y. Top 100 growth company; and Youth Periodical of the Year from the Association of Educational Publishers.
David is a 1991 graduate of University at Buffalo and also a 2009 graduate of the MIT Entrepreneurial Masters Program, an executive education program offered through the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO).
David’s community activities include being a board member for The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!), Junior Achievement, Nazareth College/School of Management, and Bivona Childhood Advocacy Center (marketing committee). He is also chapter founder and past president of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO)—Western New York.
In 2004, he published his first book, 101 Things You Can Do To Become an Outstanding Young Adult.
David resides in Upstate New York with his wife and two kids. His hobbies include reading, cooking, eating, exercising and repeated attempts at humor.
