Too confused to choose a college?

Make sure the college you pick has the activities you already enjoy

Too confused to choose a college? You did it! You’ve been accepted to several colleges. Congratulations! The problem now? Picking one! All the schools are great places, or you wouldn’t have applied to them in the first place. So how do you decide?

You know what your parents will tell you: Compare financial aid packages, majors, size of classes.

Yes, those things are important. But don’t forget about the other aspects of your college experience. Figure out what clubs or sports you’d like to participate in for the next four years. Does your prospective school offer them? If you spend most of the year waiting for winter so you can ski, look into colleges where you’ll be able to enjoy that. Do you want to study abroad? What schools offer programs you’d drool over?

One of the best things you can do when deciding is to visit the campuses again. Do you feel comfortable socially at the school? Can you see yourself there?

Talk to a variety of people at the school. One friend of mine visited each school four times.

The most important thing when it comes to choosing a school is to be happy once you’ve made your choice.

There are pros and cons to every school. Just be confident that you’ve done what’s best for you—then get started planning your dorm room!
