Campus Life

We also know how to have a great time after class, especially in our incredible new Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts. This year's line-up includes comedians Gallagher and Lewis Black, country star Brad Paisley, the Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, and bluegrass legend Sam Bush. Of course, we also have our famous Winter Carnival, featuring colossal snow statues.

Facilities and Resources

Each Michigan Tech graduate averages 9.75 job interviews. Ninety-five percent of reporting graduates were employed, enrolled in graduate school, or in military service. We have a 12:1 student-faculty ratio, and our J. R. Van Pelt Library has 800,000 volumes, including 9,000 serials and periodicals. We have some of the nation's largest enrollments in civil and environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, and geological engineering and sciences. Our scientific and technical communication program is also one of the largest in the nation.

Athletics / Sports

Our NCAA Division I men's ice hockey team. Our men's basketball team was rated in the top ten in the nation last year, and we are always competitive in football and women's basketball and volleyball. Our men's basketball team qualified for the NCAA Division II Tournament, was ranked as high as number eight in the nation, won the GLIAC regular season and tournament titles, and had an All-American and an Academic All-American on its squad.

Financial Aid / Tuition

We're committed to making it possible for all qualified students to attend, regardless of financial circumstances. Currently 77 percent of Michigan Tech's students receive financial aid totaling more than $40 million annually. Four kinds of assistance are available: *Scholarships -- These gifts are awarded on the basis of student potential and, in some cases, financial need. *Grants -- These funds are provided by the federal or state government or by MTU and do not need to be repaid. *Student Loans -- The interest charged on student loans is below regular interest rates. Payment does not begin until after students leave Michigan Tech. *Part-Time Employment -- Through multiple programs, MTU provides on-campus student employment opportunities.
