Seize the opportunity to grow as a transfer

Getting accustomed to St. John’s University (www.stjohns.edu) was a little difficult, but I managed to get involved and move past the rough stages. The most important thing you can possibly do is get involved and focus on academics, of course! Academics always come first for me. Performing outside the classroom is essential to a college student, too. Not only do you meet new people, but also it is a great way to network and pave your future.

I transferred to St. John’s last fall of 2010 and in a year I have accomplished many things. Running for vice president of NAACP and becoming second vice president is something I would have never even thought of in high school. Signing up to be a part of Alpha Kappa Delta, the honor society for sociology has showed me if I take the initiative to complete something I will succeed. 

With determination comes success. We all have the capability to achieve what we dream and hope for. Seize the moment and take hold of what you want! Carpe Diem.
