Hispanic College Fund

This fund provides Hispanic high school and college students with the vision, resources and mentorship needed to become community leaders and achieve successful careers in business, science, technology, engineering and math.

In 2009, the Hispanic College Fund awarded about $3 million to 592 students nationwide. More than 80 percent of the scholarships were awarded to students studying business, science, technology, engineering and math.

Each scholarship program has its own set of criteria. Each scholarship application site will state the full list of requirements for each program.

LULAC National Scholarship Funds

Created in 1975, the LULAC National Scholarship Fund (LNSF) was one of the first national programs designed to outreach the Hispanic community by providing financial assistance to economically disadvantaged, but academically gifted Hispanic students in the United States. 

Since its inception, the LNSF has awarded 13 million dollars to nearly 25,000 students. Former recipients of LNSF scholarships are now leaders in fields of business, science, government and education and include members of congress, university professors and corporate achievers.

Ron Brown Scholar Program

The Ron Brown Scholar Fund is a 501(c)3 public charity named for the late Secretary of Commerce and inspired by his dedication to public service. The program provides scholars with the financial resources to attend some of the finest colleges and universities in the country. 

Upon acceptance, scholars are each awarded $40,000 ($10,000 per year for four years) that may be used at the college or university of their choice. The mission of the Ron Brown Scholar Program is to accelerate the progress of African Americans into the mainstream of leadership in business, education, government and a wide spectrum of professions, while instilling a strong dedication to leadership and public service.

UNCF • MERCK Science Research Scholarships and Fellowships

The UNCF•Merck Undergraduate Science Research Scholarship Awards are intended to help African American undergraduate students who are interested in science to further their science education and potentially pursue science careers. 

Each award provides up to $35,000, which includes up to $25,000 toward tuition, room and board and billable fees. The awards provide tuition support and opportunities for research experience in a state-of-the-art research facility.

The American Indian College Fund

The American Indian College Fund transforms Indian higher education by funding and creating awareness of the unique, community-based accredited Tribal Colleges and Universities, offering students access to knowledge, skills and cultural values, which enhance their communities and the country as a whole.

Applications are available on the website January of each year and the application deadline is always May 31st for the upcoming school year.

The Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund 

The Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund (APIASF) is the nation’s largest 501(c)3 non-profit organization that aspires to see that all APIAs have access to higher education and resources that cultivate their academic, personal and professional success regardless of their ethnicity, national origin or financial means. 

To apply, students must apply for federal financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by February 1 and submit one letter of recommendation.

Society of Women Engineers

As part of its national educational activities, SWE administers more than 100 individual scholarship awards annually, varying in amount from $1,000 to over $5,000 per year and totaling more than $200,000. 

All SWE Scholarships are open only to women pursuing baccalaureate or graduate degrees in engineering or computer science.
