Sam Houston State is located in the historic city of Huntsville, home and burial place of Texas’ greatest hero, General Sam Houston. Conveniently located between Houston and Dallas,

Athletics / Sports

SHSU offers a wide variety of programs, activities, and facilities to help you attain your goals. shsu.edu/recsports
• Club sports allow students to compete regionally and nationally representing SHSU in lacrosse, wrestling, paintball, ultimate frisbee, or one of our other 20+ active teams.
• Intramural sports give students a wide range of on-campus individual and team competitions.
• Enjoy outdoor activities with our outdoor programs.
• Our newest facility, the Recreational Sports Center features a 150,000 square foot activity center with basketball and volleyball courts, an indoor track, a 35-foot climbing center, and a swimming pool with lap lanes.
