Academic Life

You can earn academic degrees and certificates in more than 80 fields and programs. Plus:

• Earn a certificate in sustainability, mathematics or honors/advanced studies while you’re pursuing an associate degree. These embedded certificates are the first of their kind to be offered within the State University of New York system.
• Visit the PAC Center, a state-of-the-art educational, athletic and recreational facility that houses an indoor turf field, jogging track, fitness center equipped with cardio and strength training equipment.
• Live on campus in one of our spacious, state-of-the-art residence halls.  Four-and five-person suites are fully furnished and have complete kitchens, two full bathrooms, computer and network connectivity, and are just a quick walk from classes and activities.

Plus, our flexible course scheduling helps you balance home, work and family. Visit our admissions counselors to create a plan that works for your needs.

If your plan is to continue your education at a four-year college or university, we have transfer and 2+2 dual admission programs that fit bachelor’s degrees across the country. MCC graduates have transferred to more than 400 different colleges, including Cornell, UCLA, Michigan State and all SUNY campuses.

As we add new—and modify existing—programs and courses to keep up with the needs of local employers and students, you’ll find MCC within easy reach. In addition to our Brighton Campus, the downtown Damon City Campus, the Applied Technologies Center and the Public Safety Training Facility, we have extension sites all over town.

If you prefer an alternative to the traditional classroom environment, you can choose from more than 100 online courses.

Outside of class, you’ll discover a vibrant campus life: events organized by more than 50 student clubs and groups; a wide array of cultural activities, including art exhibits and plays and a top-ranked athletic program.

MCC is consistently recognized as one of the top community colleges in the nation. Our faculty’s and staff’s successes include more than 80 SUNY Chancellor’s Awards recognizing excellence in teaching, professional service, librarianship, scholarship and creative activities.

MCC professors care about your success. Unlike colleges where professors divide their time between research and the classroom, our professors are here to teach. MCC offers a wide range of programs—for students who know exactly what they want, and those who are still exploring their options. Our transfer programs give you the flexibility to go in many different directions, while our career programs offer rewarding opportunities with top regional employers. MCC also offers an Honors Program and the Honors Concentration Degree, as well as the national honor society Phi Theta Kappa.

Campus Life

Whether you have a favorite sport, a fascination with computer design, or just about any other interest, there’s a team or club for you. There are ongoing cultural events, speakers, films and many volunteer opportunities. MCC’s Campus Center and residence halls offer you more exciting options than ever.

Facilities and Resources

MCC’s Brighton Campus includes a variety of athletic fields and 12 interconnected buildings with classrooms, lecture halls and labs featuring the latest technologies, electronic classrooms, computer centers, wireless access, and learning resources. The Campus Center features offices for clubs, meeting rooms, a two-story bookstore, cafes and dining areas, as well as lounges for relaxing and socializing. Residence halls allow 800 students to live and learn in spacious modern suites that include a full kitchen, living room, and choice of single or double rooms. The Damon City Campus is centrally located in downtown Rochester, accessible to all bus routes and within walking distance to many jobs and internship opportunities. The Applied Technologies Center houses high-tech training facilities for precision machining and tooling, HVAC, and automotive technology programs.

Athletics / Sports

At MCC, winning has been the tradition since the inception of the athletic program in 1963. MCC is home to one of the most successful athletic programs in the nation: 18 team national championships, 17 individual national champions, 144 regional titles, hundreds of All-Conference, All-Region and All-American performers and dozens of academic honors and accolades.  MCC has twice earned top honors at the Pepsi National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) Awards. Our teams strive for excellence and many of our student-athletes transfer onto competitive teams at Division I, II, and III colleges and universities. Being a student-athlete at MCC means having access to such resources as an academic athletic advisor, full-time coaches, and state-of-the-art facilities.

Financial Aid / Tuition

Both full-time and part-time students may qualify for financial aid, and more than half of our students receive some form of financial aid. Our Financial Aid Office offers workshops and seminars to help students apply for and manage these funds. MCC also awards hundreds of scholarships and grants each year, including five Presidential Scholarships for up to full-time tuition.
