Academic Life

At St. Scholastica, you'll excel with opportunities for independent study - one-on-one with professors, participating in and leading research studies, studying abroad, as well as gaining real-world experience through internships at some of the nation's top companies, hospitals and universities. A 13:1 student-to-teacher ratio makes it easy to seek individualized academic assistance.

Campus Life

The beautiful campus provides a small, friendly community that enables each student to participate in a variety of activities. Wherever you go, whatever you do, there are friends to laugh with, fellow students to work with, groups to share with. There are more than 60 clubs and organizations available for students to join. Outside campus, Duluth offers a wide variety of outdoor adventures and cultural/entertainment activities. Recently, the nonprofit American Institute for Economic Research ranked Duluth one of America’s best small metropolitan areas for college students.   

Facilities and Resources

We recently finished a 40,000 square-foot wing in our Science Center. New features include:

  • 7 laboratories for chemistry and biochemistry
  • 6 faculty-undergraduate student research areas
  • 2 classrooms for pre-laboratory meetings and general class use
  • an atrium-style gathering area, called Benedictine Commons
  • a greenhouse and rooftop garden
  • state-of-the-art environmental and sustainable technologies throughout, including for storage of chemicals and treatment of hazardous waste

Financial Aid / Tuition

St. Scholastica offers generous financial aid and scholarships, awarding nearly $19 million in scholarships last year. Ninety-nine percent of full-time students who apply receive financial aid. Through our Benedictine Scholarship, we award annual merit-based scholarships ranging from $10,000 per year to $16,500 per year.

Admission

The College of St. Scholastica admits qualified students from diverse cultural, geographical, economic, religious and racial backgrounds. Applications are evaluated based on information that demonstrates an ability to succeed both academically and socially at St. Scholastica.

Admissions Criteria

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or its equivalent (GED)
  • Calculated Index Score (CNX), calculated using the cumulative high school grade point average and the composite college-bound test score on the ACT or SAT
  • Participation in leadership, extra-curriculars, community service, church and other personal enrichment activities
