What better way to "Unleash your Inner Husky" than through the variety of student life opportunities, from tackling a 30-foot indoor climbing wall and navigating an outdoor high ropes course to building lifelong friendships in hundreds of student groups and, along the way, gaining resume-building leadership experience.
Get Involved. With more than 250 student clubs and organizations, there’s a group just for you — ranging from community service, faith, the arts, business, entertainment and athletics.
Campus Living doesn’t end when walking out of the residence halls, but grows through lifelong friendships formed by taking advantage of the unique experiences available across campus.
Facilities and Resources
BU overlooks the Town of Bloomsburg and is situated a few hundred yards from the community's business district. Geisinger - Bloomsburg Hospital is across the street from a cluster of residence halls.
Lower campus is home to seven residence halls, a student services center, campus dining, instructional buildings, library and recreational and social facilities.
Upper campus, about a half-mile away, is connected by continuous shuttle service and features athletic facilities, three university-owned student apartment complexes, and a dining and conference facility.
Upper campus is also home to Huskies athletics, including the Nelson Field House; Redman Stadium; fields for soccer, lacrosse and field hockey, baseball and softball; and a new tennis center.
Athletics / Sports
Students who want to play intercollegiate sports at BU must register with the NCAA Eligibility center. In order to compete as a freshman, a student must be certified as a qualifier and have their amateurism certified. Students can begin registering with the EC after their sophomore year in high school.
Financial Aid / Tuition
Many financial aid programs are available to BU students. Undergraduate, graduate, part-time and transfer students from every income bracket may be eligible for some type of financial aid — student employment, grants, scholarships or low-interest loans.
By evaluating financial aid sources and developing a sound financial plan, students will have the monetary resources needed, while minimizing their potential debt burden.
BU receives nearly 11,000 applications for admission each year. The admissions staff evaluates every application when received and responds within four to six weeks.
While there are no fixed criteria for acceptance, a typical incoming BU student:
- Has SATs of 1070 (critical reading and math sections only) or an ACT of 23
- Graduated in the top 25 percent of high school class
- Graduated with a high B average
- Most likely took a high school college prep program of study
- May have Advanced Placement courses that earned college credit or took challenging high school courses
- Is active in high school and community activities, especially in leadership roles
BU does not require an essay or references with an application and will accept both the "old" and "new" SAT testing scores.
