Transferring to Mount Mary College in Milwaukee (www.mtmary.edu) was a no-brainer for me. I knew that I could not survive in a school with large class sizes. I wanted the opportunity to be in an environment where everyone knew each other and female empowerment was emphasized. I enjoy living at a school in an urban area while being close enough to the suburbs to have a more laid back feel.
Going back to college was the best decision of my life. I had worked in management straight out of high school but had not taken the time to earn my degree. Mentoring my employees brought me to the realization that I wanted more for myself so that I could give back. Going back to school in a technical environment allowed me to have a much easier transition back to school.
Mount Mary’s transfer program allowed for an easy move to a four-year college. All of my courses from my associate’s degree transferred over, allowing me to start at Mount Mary as a junior. I have continued to attend school full-time and work in my degree field. Currently, I am taking a managerial accounting course, which has allowed me to transfer skills I learn in class to my day-to-day life, working as a cost analyst assistant.
