What is the purpose of ACT. My parents are always forcing me to practice test that they bought. My parents spend about 100 dollars on buying the ACT prep books. I really don't like how they froce me to practice all the time. Why are they or why do they think ACT is important. What does ACT do to me?

Well first off, the only one of those stinking ACT books I could tolerate was Princeton and it raised my score like 2 points. The ACT lets college know your "readiness". When paired with a good GPA and some activities the ACT shows you are ready for college and deserve attention. It really is important to start taking it early and to take it often. The more you take the the higher you'll get. I was one point away from getting my full ride...I didn't start studying until the last chance ACT and boy do I regret it now. Your parents really are looking out for you. Many colleges base scholarships on how high your ACT in combination with your GPA.

The ACT is basically used to help the college your applying to know where your strengths are and place you in course classes to meet those strengths and weaknesses. Colleges use ACT as a requirement on most,if not all, of their scholarships.
