Currently I'm ranked top 3.5 percentile and have a GPA of 4.2. I didn't do so well on my first attempt at SAT (1800), but I'm studying for it this time and trying to get 2050-2100 on it the next time or either a 33 on the ACT once I take it. I was also part of the marching band/concert band for 3 years and currently in the Jazz Band. I volunteer at Kaiser Permanente Hospital. I also was involved in CSF club, YMDGA club and a treasurer in YMDGA. I plan to make Jazz and Philosophy Club at my school this year. But is there anything else I can do that's extra so I can improve my chances of getting into UCLA and UC Berkley?? Nowadays its so competitive these days and plus I'm Asian and UCLA has a lot of Asians at their school so it's even more competitive. Any and all suggestions are welcome and are greatly appreciated. I really need your help, and anyone that needs help can message me as well. Thank You. =]

You're on the right track. If your next SAT score is around 2100 (out of 2400) on the next exam, you'll become a better candidate too.

You should consider asking teachers who can write good recommendations for you and concentrate on writing a good essay. Since you have the rest covered, you should put some work into these two. They can make your application stand out when you're compared to students who have similar grades and scores as you.

4.2 GPA...wasn't the highest 4.0?

Or does it vary state to state?

Thanks for the advice. I'll be sure to take note of that.

Well it depends if your calculating your weighted or unweighted GPA. If you take certain AP classes than your GPA can pass 4.0 as long as you get A's in them. Oh and AP classes are college level courses taken during high school.
