hi my name is kyla and i didn't really understand how much awesome stuff was on this site until i looked more into it. This is a great tool to help anyone figure out basically anything about college. i know it has helped me so far. i was just wanting to know if anyone else out there has the same problem i am dealing with and if so, how are you dealing with it....my older sister had to take out a lot of loans for college because she didnt get enough scholarships and thescholarships she did get she doesn't have anymore because her grades got really low. Now my parents are pressuring me hard core saying i have to get perfect grades basically or i can't go to the college i want to go to. my mom works at a christian college so she said i had to go there, for free, if my grades aren't up. i don't know what to do because it seems liek everything i do right, they still don't think is good enough. and now all they ever talk about is my sister and all of her problems and how she is trying to fix them. i get sick hearing about her all the time. i don't like to be selfish, but it is really started to get to me. if anyone has anything to say or help me out that would be gret. thanks!

Hey there,
I'm a junior in highschool and i have somewhat the same problem. The pressure, between the teachers in school constantly putting you down and your parents at home saying its not good enough until its perfect. My mom is pressuring me into a State or City college because of the price difference, while i'm dreaming of a private college away from home... For myself i work hard, i keep on telling myself "you're doing this for what you want, not for what they want, this is your life, your future work as hard as you can". The balance, for me that is, comes with my friends. They keep me from going insane from pressure, my best friend is amazing, he helps me through everything. Although you may think money is the main issue, in my opinion its happiness, when you're happy and content with where you are and your own progress then everything will fall into place. There are tons of scholarships out there, look a few up, don't stress too much...plan well, balance work and fun, stay happy and enjoy your life. Maybe try a State or City college for your undergrad and dream big and think of private for your grad...hard work goes a long way, but how can you appreciate it if you're not happy? so let loose and have some fun too. don't stress to hard, you're not alone.
here for you <3

hey thanks! i really appreciate that. I'm trying to focus more on what i want then what others want and everything seems to be a lot easier than expected. I guess you just have to hear the answer from a complete stranger instead of telling yourself.[:)]

Hello Kylab,
My name is Nzubechukwu Anih. Iam a sophmore i high school. I think that you are not the only one who is going through frustration. If it were my mom she will say welcome to adulthood. If you can remember when we were little all these things didn't matter to us but now we have to go to school, make good grades, pass Advanced Placement classes, work to earn money for college, volunteering and community service are required to make your colege application look good. I always tell my mom i'm frustrated or tired she replies "I have to know when you are frustrated but for now you are not because college is coming on your way." Frustration is a big deal for high school students but we all have to work and deal with it in a way suitable for us. Alwyas remeber you are not alone. Always remeber.[:D]

Frustration to some people is a way of life, it was mine for a long time, but now its not, sure I hate my father and it doesn't look like thats going to change, but its a shame though, I see myself at a thrid person view sometimes and see how pathetic it is, and I try to help others with their problems to try and forget my own. sure nobody here knows me yet, but they will soon enough, I might as well be a psychotic adviser as my carreer, I understand the pressures, there is a new law where I live where if you exceed on all of your state required tests you get a full ride through college, all except books, now just after I heard about that I knew my parents were not only going to yell at me because my report card didn't have all 100%s but also because a missed a problem on the AIMS. they told me they wouldn't, they did, and I knew it was coming, talk about pressure, I understand, I'm just one of those people that if it were any other thing in the world I could handle the pressure, but when it comes to my grade and that pressure, I crack, it sucks.....e-mail me for all your frastrated, rant, 'need help now' needs
So...we are all told in this world that we are on our own,....let me tell you something.....we're not alone....not anymore...we have each other.....
