When you are little, you learn that it takes a mommy and daddy to make a baby. That they get married have children and live happily ever after. Well, in reality that nearly never happens. As a little girl I grew up with just one parent, not two. Most of my friends had a mommy and a daddy, but I was different. My mom was my mommy and daddy at the same time. Whenever I needed her she would be there, no matter what. It is becoming much more common for kids to not have two parents raising them. It is difficult at times, but I always knew my mom was doing her best. She made sure she made it to ever dance practice, track meet, school play, school assembly, and when I was sick she was the one up there at school picking me up from the nurses office. I knew I should be thankful because some kids weren't so lucky. They didn't have a mom or a dad just a "home". I never told my mom how much I appreciated what she does for me. Now I tell her every day.
