Hey this is my first time posting, so I was like what should I post about, and really I decided that it should be about my biggest stressor right now. I was an B average student my 9th and 10th year of school, but then Junior year, I had A LOT of personal problems, and I ended up dipping in grades, and failing a lot of classes. So now, I am worried about getting into colleges that I would usually be able to get into. Like, I have a 3.2 GPA and I am really active, but I dont know if that'll go over well with my college "people.".... I dont know what to do about it. I've talked to some kids that I know on the Hamilton College, the college I really want to go to, on and off campus. I have tons of friends from Hamilton, and I really like the school. Haley, my mentor and kinda co-worker went to Hamilton and now works for Hamilton. She says that she had bad grades and everything but the interview made a big change in how Hamilton accepted her. So I'm hoping that my interview next Tuesday will help, BUT I dont even know what to talk about! What the questions will be, anything! And I read an article in this edition and like, it said that grades and SATS scores are first, which they should be, but they should make an exception.... Im just really worried. Any advice would be Awesome!

I feel for you. Don't stress out too much about it. I'm sure your shining personality will come out during the interview. Obviously grades are important, but colleges are leaning more towards the well-rounded student now. If you have some good extracurriculars or are doing something outside of school, they will take that into account. So don't stress! It'll all work out.

Thanks so much! I looked at the article and it was really helpful, I'll use it as a key to my interview tomorrow. Thanks!

I understand your situation perfectly. When I was in the 9th and 10th grade I couldn't focus fully because I was trying to juggle school, friends and a job. It wasn't until the end of my 10th grade year and my 11th grade year when I cracked down and focused fully. So as a senior in highschool its been very frustrating when applying to colleges because of my GPA. But don't worry about it to much because there is more to a person than just brains. Cause you need personality to.

I 100% fully-and-completely agree w/ timmy31. That doesn't mean slack off and party-till-you-puke, so study hard and you'll bring up your grades! Stress brought this former straight A student to a B in some courses, so I know what you're worried about.
But it'll be okay. Don't get so far behind that you feel drowned -- from experience, that will ONLY bring trouble. Stay on top of your work and there will be no problems.
And bsmooth14 is right, too. There IS more to it than grades!
Good luck and God bless!

Study hard, get extra credit, retake all of the SAT tests and get better grades on them, and hopefully everything will blow over nice and softly, Best wishes Good Luck!!![:D]
So...we are all told in this world that we are on our own,....let me tell you something.....we're not alone....not anymore...we have each other.....
