My understanding is that the SAT and ACT tests are very different. is that correct? If it is correct. How do they differ. Also do I need to take both?

Depends on the school.
ACT is a mid-Western test for sure.

How many of you guys have taken both the ACT and SAT? Are you planning on taking just one, or both of the exams? I took both--and did better on one over the other. It's a personal formatting preference, I think.

I took both, and I'd recommend the SAT's, that is most of what I have heard talked about, and here on the west coast seems the most common taken, both are long and boring.

I took both the SAT (three times!) and the ACT. It makes for a lot of studying, but one may qualify you better than the other for admissions or scholarships. I've heard the ACT is generally better for Verbal people.

i think that the act is easier. it's more about things you learned throughout your school yrs. I didn't like the sat. but you shoul take both if you can
