Hi, I'm a high school junior and no matter what I do, where I go, how nicely I dress, I can never seem to get a job (which I really need)!! Anywhere!!I put in applications everywhere, I'm a good student, very straight edge and yet it is very frustrating when the job I wanted is taken by some slacker!! Any advice on how to get hired?

Where are the places you're trying to get work? You might want to try retail/restaurants/lifeguarding/someplace that routinely hires teenagers. Once you prove yourself with that work experience, you might be more likely to be hired elsewhere.

I'm in a similar position, but in my town you need a car to get to most jobs, and I do not have one so that limits where I can apply. Ask your teachers and other adults if they know anywhere that may be hiring, and if they are not related to you, you could ask if you can use them as a refernece. Try the Guidence department at your school, we have a School-To-Career office at ours and a lot of kids get jobs that way. Places know that and contact the office looking for kids to work, and they already know that they are going to be hiring a teen.

I also cannot find a job. Most of the jobs that I want here you have to be 18 and I'm not gonna be eighteen for 7 1/2 months. What can I do?
