My dad thinks it'd be too expensive to live at the campus (I want to go to Wichita State University) and that I really need to be under his "wings" for awhile. But I think that if I want to stay on track and do well in college that I should live at least near the campus, without all the distractions.

I was wondering if there is anyone out there who live with their parents and what is it like for them to have to drive to college everyday for their classes. Basically what's it like for them not living at the campus.

I also want to know if perhaps I'm wrong. Because I want to do well in college, but I know some of these small factors can definitely effect how well you do.

Perhaps an insight on how college life is like would help me out with this.

I lived with my parents for two years while I was in college. Driving to classes everyday is not that bad. You just have to make sure you give yourself enough time to get there and park in the mornings. Staying on campus all day and eating lunch there made me feel like I was a part of the community, and I still got to go home and eat dinner with my family. Living off campus will save you (and your parents) money. If you want to have the whole college experience though, living on campus is best. Try to convince your family that living on campus freshman year is a vital part of college, and you don't want to regret never experiencing it. See what they say, and if you do end up staying at home, be a part of the campus by joining clubs and attending college events!
