If I could go back to my freshman year of high school and give myself some advice as a high school senior I would. The first piece of advice I would tell myself would be to take school seriously. I would explain that barely passing classes with B’s and C’s is not acceptable. And that those grades really hurt your chances at getting a good GPA and rank when wanting to apply for scholarships and universities as a senior. I would also talk about how everything would have been easier if my GPA were in the top ten percent, since automatically the top ten percent can be accepted into almost any university in Texas. I would try to encourage myself to think about the future instead of thinking about community college right after finishing high school. I got motivated to work towards a university my senior, right after I realized that I had not taken high school seriously and it was too late to improve my grades. My only choice left was to get high enough SAT and ACT scores to meet the standards of the universities I wanted to apply for. The same goes for the scholarships that would help pay for my school. Another piece of advice I would tell my younger self is that boy and friend drama is just a waste of time. Don’t need to worry about others and their problems, because at the end the only thing that you’re going to have left is your education. Lastly I would also explain to myself that if I had a chance to redo all of high school again, I would. Since now I know exactly what to expect and that not doing well in school can change your whole future. I would do things so much differently like actually caring and taking things seriously. I would have made such a bigger difference and participated in after school activities because all those things are very important. I used to think that school activities were only for people who wanted to spend time together at school, but I was way wrong. I learned that most after school activities and clubs are beneficial. Sometimes they help community but most of the time to yourself. Now all I can do is work hard on my last year of high school and watch my SAT and ACT scores help me get accepted into a great university.
