A Passion for Pictures
Lots of high school kids find something they love to do when they are subjected to new things, places, and ideas in the teenage years. Tori Larson, a senior at Arrowhead High School, found her passion early on: photography.
“I got my first camera in 7th grade. I took stupid pictures of everything but I loved it,” Tori says.
Larson has since then graduated into a different more professional class of cameras. As of now, Larson owns a Nikon d3100, an expensive camera that has attachments, different lenses, and lots of options. Larson has strong feelings about how much she enjoys photography.
“I love getting the perfect shot. I like that photography gives you the chance to capture amazing moments and then share them with the people you love. I like to take pictures of nature, but I’m basically up for anything. I really like creative scenes and people too, so pretty much everything!”
With school, friends, family, work, and everything else, Larson knows it’s hard to balance all the important stuff with the things she enjoys most. She sets up certain times to do what she loves.
“ I normally just set aside time to take pictures. Sometimes, though, I just can’t focus on school or I get inspired and I just go do it right then and there. Some weeks, I’ll take hundreds of pictures in a day. Some weeks, none because I get so busy with school and work. It’s a tough balance, but when it works out, it’s fantastic.”
Larson has also taken pictures of some of her fellow classmates. One girl has even decided to submit one of them for her senior picture in the Arrowhead 2012 yearbook.
“Um, it’s seriously awesome. The fact that they trust me and my skills and think I’m good enough- it’s amazing.”
Larson has also thought about the future. She has plans to move forward in the photography community.
“Yes, I definitely want to incorporate photography into my future, I plan to study It in college, and study abroad. My dream job is to be a National Geographic photographer, but of course, whether it’s my career or not, photography is a part of me. I love it, it’s my passion.”
