HOW I SEE WAR (poem)

BOMBS, BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Soldier’s clear rooms after room,
Constantly on the move.
As if they are out to prove,
that they can serve and protect
gaining some kind of respect.
With their hearts beating and pulses racing
buildings and rooms they continue clearing.
Deadly enemies they are fearing,
as rivals try fighting back
against our relentless attack.
Another dropped dead
shot to his head.
Amazingly at his death they will cheer
now that there’s one less enemy too fear.
What most of us don’t see
is that, it easily could have been he.
Anyone of their own troop`s soldier
who won’t arrive
home alive
able to see his family.
The man they just killed, maybe
at home he had a new born baby.
If that was your loved one
what would you have done?
What would you feel,
how would you deal,
With the agony
and misery?
Every time our troops shoot one down
you should put on a frown,
wiping your face clean of that vile
wide grinning smile.
Knowing that there’s a different family somewhere
out there, now left in pain, and despair.

War is for those
who handle their foes,
With reacting
by deadly fighting.

Leaders force their country out to war,
but the ones who go are often too poor.
When it takes a turn for the worst
and the citizen riots start to outburst
your so called leader cowers away.
Leaving the country in disarray, slowly to decay,
at the end of the day
does it sound right
to send loved ones out to fight?
To cover our government’s gruelling lies
going behind enemy lines,
your politicians are not the ones risking their lives.
So as our troops clear each house, each building
remember why they are fighting
the risks they are facing
their lives at the mercy of pure luck
hoping they won’t get stuck
with a bullet in their head
To return to their family in a flag wrapped coffin already DEAD.
