“I’ve failed over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed; I’ve never been afraid to fail.” Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player that has ever set foot on the court, but he was never afraid to fail and he did many times. But since he was so successful on the court people didn’t pay too much attention to his flaws. When I see myself I feel the pressure of failure but then I know if I really work toward that goal I can accomplish it.

In life there comes a time when you fail and you might not understand why. My sophomore year in English class I was in a bind where I knew I could do well but I wasn’t showing my best. Every time an assignment would come up it would be the same old 80 grade that I knew I was going to receive; but soon I was thinking that an 80 wasn’t acceptable so I had a goal which was to at least get my grade to a high 80. I knew it wouldn’t come over night, it would take effort on my part to see what I needed to do to get the grade that I wanted. Since I knew that English wasn’t my strongest in school I had to change my attitude and work habits. The next marking period we had a few essays that I could write about myself on. The topics appealed to me and I got my first 90 on a paper. Now that I had put in the work and failed over and now I enjoy English and succeed accomplishing my goals.

Winston Churchill once said “Success is not final, failure is not fatal; it is the courage to continue that counts”. When you succeed at something, that doesn’t automatically put you in a place where you will always do well in that area; but when you do fail in an area that you expect high standards in just keep working at it.

Not everyone can succeed at everything failure is natural to everyone. Michael Jordan showed a prime example of this. As a sophomore in high school Michael Jordan tried out for the varsity basketball team but he was only 5’11, the coaches thought he was too short so they cut him. The following summer, he grew four inches and trained rigorously. As a senior, he was selected to the McDonald's All-American Team and earned himself a full scholarship to the University of North Carolina. In life failure is always going to come up and if you just harp on the negatives you will never succeed. “I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can't accept not trying.”
