I knew, from the beginning, I’ve always wanted to help children in some way or another. At first I thought being a pediatrician would help children, and it would, but it was not what I wanted to be. While sitting in band my 8th grade year, I remember my band director saying “help the world one person at a time.” The phrase helped me decide that I want to be a child psychiatrist. Another event that realy impacted this decision was a friend of mine. Although, I do not want to go into great detail about what happened to him, I know that by having me to talk to helped him in his time of need. No, we don’t talk as often anymore but I know he is always there. By being a child’s psychiatrist, I can a child in need overcome a terrible event in their life. I can, also, help prevent those children growing up to become criminals. I can try to stop them from ruining their own life. Try to help them see that just because someone else tried to ruin their life, doesn’t mean it stops theirs. It keeps going. I can give them hope about life.
