No, this is not another post of someone secretly wishing to tell the person they like that they want to be "more than just friends." This it's a true story that really changed my life. It's ok if you think I sound cliche, because I guess it does sound a little cliche.
I met my best friend, Gyzel, 9 years and 4 months ago today. We recently began celebrating our "friendaversary" every month on the 4th so we would always remember the day we met. I tell her all the time how grateful I am that she's my "Best Buddy" and we usually fight over who's more grateful for having the other in her life.
You would love her if you met her. Everyone does haha. She's amazing in every way and has one of the biggest hearts I know. She's two years older than me (16 and 18), but that has never gotten in the way. She brought me to Christ and I can never thank her enough for that. I truly believe that saved my life.
I was not very equipped for dealing with major stress as an eight year old, but it came anyways. I attempted suicide a few times, but was obviously not successful haha. I'm glad that I couldn't do it though. I never would have been able to experience the joy and love that I do today. I wouldn't be able to see my friends and family and spend time with them. Since Gyzel brought me to the Church I really have changed my life around. Yeah, I still mess up, but I'm a better person now. I owe a lot to her.
"We're not just friends, but sisters till the end" - Gyzel (an excerpt from her poem to me for Christmas)
