On the ice there is solitude
Staring down a hole
Offering fish some food
Displayed so nicely
That to refuse would be rude

To ice fish is a fine way to spend the day
In the middle of a lake
You take a sojourn from the fray
It's just you on a bucket
Staring at a barren display

And while on your perch
You stare across the moonscape
As you see idiots lurch
Across thin ice
In their V-8

Everything is surreal
When witnessed on the ice
So when the obvious happens
You still have to look twice

There is an audible crack
When the ice begins to break
And you feel the vibrations
As the shifting ice shakes

The front wheels went first
And the men jumped soon after
And my gut almost burst
From laughing at their disaster

For I knew too well
How the media would have it displayed
"The ice is not safe!"
Men's lives barely saved

The media doesn't
Give these idiots there due
The media likes to make things seem tragic
To help a frenzy ensue

If you have half a brain
And a scoop of common sense
A day on the lake
Is a great way to have your time spent
