I may sound a little slow here but when someone asks for your major is that the main class you're taking or is that something you are working towards???

What you major in isn't necessarily the main classes you take but it is what is on your degree when you graduate. When you major in something it means you studied it enough to work as whatever the major was. If someone was going to major in Architecture, they can do architectural jobs.
