So I attend my local community college, however, my conflict is that I'm double majoring (business administration and pyschological). My boyfriend ,who about to attain his college degree, and my couselor believes I'm doing too much.  Both of them believe I should focus on one major at a time. But what's the point of doing that when I finish up one, I might as well transfer. I'm doing good in all my classes, its just added a year to my 2 years of being there. I feel I can take on the challenge but how if I really don't have the support????

well, i think your bf and your counselor might be right, but it's your choice; you know if you can challenge yourself with two majors. my advice to you is do what is best for you. If i were you i would choose only one that really fits me...

Only you know if you are doing too much. You can't let others run your life. You will know what is right for you and what is not.

I'm going to have to agree that it's really up to you whether you think you can or want to do it. Know that it's going to take more time to get the degree, and be ready for that. In the end, it's going to matter up to you if you really like both enough to double major or not. If you find out that you rather major with just one, then you can always have the option of minoring the other. Just keep in mind that you're going to be spending more time getting your degree compared with everyone else.

Doc_Ryan is right, only you know if it is too much work. However take what they say into consideration...that is a lot on your plate.

I'd say to just be careful with what you do and don't do. As long as what you do makes you happy and successful later in life and you are absolutely sure you can do it, then you should be fine!

Like most of what the other people are saying you NEED to do what is right for you. Plus two majors is great way to use time rather then watch T.V all day, it keeps your mind thinking and thoughts flowing...which is actually very healthy. Also I understand why your questions if you should have two majors, especially when you don't have the support or your own boyfriend AND counselor..it's harsh feeling alone when you are just trying to pursue your dream. But then again maybe they see something about you changing do to the stress you probably get from all your classes.Maybe they think you need a break...just a time to relax and take a breath of relief...

If you are doing well in your classes and aren't buried in class work then it's really up to you whether to choose one major. I think your counselor wants you to choose one major so that you can focus all your energy in one area and choose a career path that you'll be really interested in.

Yeah, if you're doing good in all your classes, they can't say you're taking on too much. If you were doing bad, then they could. If not, they're letting fear get the better of them. They may even be envious that you can do something they couldn't if they were to try.

I believe that if you are capable of doing well in your classes and are on top of your game then you should go for it. In addition, I believe that whatever you decide your counselor should be beside you supporting you, instead of discouraging you. In the end, whatever you decide that's the best for you, your peers have no other choice but to go along with your decision.!
