Lightning Moment

In the corner of my eye

(I was shocked, no horrified
at what I heard that night

I know they hurt you
I know she hurt you

I cried when I found out
My heart bled for you

You never told me
You never trusted me

Is this why?
Is life so unfair?

But you hang onto faith
I’ve seen you pray

You’ve learned so much
I wouldn’t want you to lose sight of that

That’s why I’ll hold my tongue
and say nothing

Just be your friend
Be a shoulder you can cry on

If you’ll let me,
I’ll be here.)

I saw a lightning flash.

Thanks! It's a special kind of poem designed to capture the emotions of a single moment in time. This was a new genre for me, so I appreciate the feedback!
