Extracurricular activities are exciting ways to learn new skills, meet people and have some fun. Here's what teens just like you are doing in their spare time.

Michelle Callaham lives in Trenton, S.C., and is a freshman at the University of South Carolina-Columbia.

NSM: What is the purpose of your club?
Michelle: The purpose of Future Business Leaders of America is to develop leadership, strengthen confidence in students, create more interest in the business world, and encourage members in the development of individual projects, which all contribute to the improvement of the school and community.

NSM: What kinds of activities does the club do?
Michelle: Our club always participates in our national service organization, the March of Dimes. This year, we sold Clemson and the University of South Carolina-Columbia beanbag babies to help raise money toward our goal for March of Dimes. We also participate in the Walk of America.

NSM: How is the club involved with the school and the community?
Michelle: This year, we provided three young boys who would not have received presents with gifts for Christmas. In the past, we have helped a charity golf tournament. This year, an area close to us had a chemical spill, so we started an Avondale Disaster Relief Fund to raise money to send to the people whose houses and clothes were ruined.

NSM: What is your role and duties in the club?
Michelle: I am the president of FBLA. As president, I lead all regular and officer meetings. I lead community service projects. Also, I help make the final decisions in some cases.

NSM: What do you enjoy the most about the club?
Michelle: I enjoy going to competitions and leading various community service projects. I have been a member of this organization for four years, and I have truly enjoyed every year of it. The club is well-organized, and the advisers are fun to work with. Also, the organization pulls in people from the community to speak and work with us.
